Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí, Huge thanks to our hardworking Art Day committee for all they are doing to ensure the kids have a phenomenal memorable day of creativity. You are an amazing bunch! Universal Learning for Learning :UDL By Jorge Anderson So UDL basically stands for universal design for learning, and it means that everyone gets to learn in their own special way! Not everyone is the same or learns the same- like you’ll have people who need movement breaks, hand signals and other things. UDL means people can get like whatever they need to learn -some kids need movement breaks like in the Chill zone, some kids are too shy to speak up so they’ll use hand signals, some kids didn’t like the smaller yard, so they made it bigger with more choices of where to play. Some people have sensory issues that might make it hard to learn so we can do things like get them wobble chairs or cushions, some people have ear defenders some people have like fidget toys sometimes just means that some people have very different ways to learn!

Dear Parents/Guardians On behalf of all the staff and Board I am extremely grateful to all of you for the amazingly successful Autumn Fair. As with any big operation it requires more than a couple of leaders so a special thanks to Sineád and Suzanne and all of the Autumn Fair committee who put many hours of work in! Thanks to all 2nd class parents for all you did in preparation and helping out on the day. It’s fantastic to see past pupils coming on board on the day too. We were incredibly impressed on Monday morning with the lack of any indication of anything taking place at the weekend. This is all much appreciated. Finally, thanks to those who organised the Garda presence and First Aiders. See below for lots of photos from the day.

Well done to the 2 nd class parents who have put weeks if not months of work into getting to this point and it feels like there is great support from across the parental body in these last few days. It will be a super day.

Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí, Our Wellbeing Focus this month was affirmations . Affirmations teach us positive self-talk, to speak to ourselves with kindness. Please find some resources here if you would like to practise these at home! Here is a little clip of a daily affirmation that children have been enjoying in Lisa’s Senior Infants.

Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí, It was really lovely to see everyone back again, especially so happy to return and ready for the school routine. It was a very settled day across the school. I enjoyed a brief visit to each class today and was impressed at how well everyone remembered the first sentence of our revised mission statement (2022/2023) “We are kind to ourselves and others in the school and beyond”. I would like to acknowledge the mammoth work of both Nicky & Mick in having everything ready for us to return. We are delighted to welcome new staff members on board, our great team: Siobhán (ALC Blue), Beccy (5 th Class), Kate (4 th Class), Sharon (2 nd Class), Alicia & Olive (ANAs). This is our first year having two 6 th classes, as it is our final year of development to a two-form school and they are the last pupils to have spent time in the old premises. Here’s to another great year! Please see below from Ballymun Library.

Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí, We had a wonderful assembly on Responsibility lead by Niamh’s 5 th class on Tuesday. They gave us lots of examples of what responsibility is and sang a song for us. We were also treated to some dance routines by children from 4 th and 3 rd class, which were fantastic! For the month of November our wellbeing focus was affirmations and children enjoyed practicing saying positive affirmations in their classrooms. Value and Wellbeing focus for December is Kindness.

Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí, Welcome back pupils, staff and parents. We are absolutely thrilled that for the first time in the journey of GETNS we have the same team on board as last year, and what a team it is! Welcome back Sorcha (Deputy Principal) on return from maternity leave. Thanks again to Áine (Assistant Principal) who played a blinder acting up for Sorcha. We’re very happy to have Aoife back from maternity leave also. It is absolutely wonderful to see all of the children again and to hear of their multiple adventures and happy stories from the summer break, and to see them so settled into their new classes already. We are especially delighted to meet the new Junior Infants and two new children in the ALC.

Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí, We have come to near the end of a year we will never forget where we all worked from home for 3.5 months. We appreciate the great efforts made by all parents during this period; your children and their resilience is a credit to you. I am very grateful to all the staff, Mick, Nicky, all the teachers, SNAs and Cleaners for their hard work and commitment to keeping us all safe, happy and learning this term. Even with this exceptional year we are very proud of our achievements: All of the children are very good at being nice to each other and inclusive; and at dealing honestly with conflicts as they arise. Our school has been showcased for our work on Wellbeing over the last year and a half. The Active School Team have kept us active and understanding the benefits of this. We have the Creative School’s Award to look forward to in 2021. I feel we are coming out of an exceptional year all the stronger and with new skills.

Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí, Thank you to the whole school community for a very calm, supportive and understanding approach on dealing with our first confirmed case of Corona Virus. We are happy to report that the person is recovering well. It is a relief to know that the measures we are all taking are having a very positive impact in preventing any spread of the virus. Let’s continue to be careful with hands, face and space. It is reassuring to know that as we learn to live with the virus it is possible to continue with school life. We are living our value of the month, Unity. Unity is Togetherness Collective strength and harmony Personal commitment

Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí, Fáilte arais arís! Welcome to our new staff members, Aisling, Pádraig, Kathy and Oisín. We are delighted to have you on board, feels like they have always been here. We are delighted with our safe return to school life and how everything is going. It was made possible due to huge preparation and work with thanks to Áine, Mick and Nicky. It really is fantastic to see all the children again, and their interest in just getting on with learning and having fun with their friends. Their resilience is a testament to you, and the fabulous job you have done at managing everything over the last six months. Thank you! Thank you to the parents who have been helping at the gate which is needed and hugely appreciated. We are also grateful that less parents are coming into the school premises to collect their children and that those who are, are maintaining distance. As we are using the car gate for pedestrians at collection time, it is much safer if the general parent body do not use the set-down area at the time being. This means only school taxis or parents with school permits can park there. Following staff meetings we have decided to hold off on giving homework next week, other than below. The following week we will begin with active homework/wellbeing. We encourage children to read or for you to read to your child/children every evening regardless of this.
