And More!

Daniel’s JI having great fun exploring different ways to problem solve with the new maths curriculum 😊

Both 2nd classes have begun literacy power hour twice a week and are enjoying reading, writing and word work stations.

Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,

Marathon Kids

5th and 6th class completed the final mile of Marathon Kids 2022 in Albert College Park on Monday. Over the last 8 weeks the children ran the equivalent distance of a full marathon (26.2 miles) and learned all about the health benefits of sport along the way. A huge bualadh bos to all on this great achievement

Parent Teacher Meetings

We hope that you have gained insight and reassurance through parent teacher meetings and thank you for the positive feedback.

Stand Up Awareness and Anti bullying Week

This week is Stand Up Awareness Week. This week is an opportunity to take steps to make spaces safe and supportive for LGBTQ+ young people. To show our support we are going to have a Rainbow Day tomorrow, Friday 18th of November. The children are encouraged to wear bright and colourful clothing on the day to celebrate.

This is an important part of our review of Anti-Bullying during the month of November.

We are taking a fortnight to work on this important area.

Restorative Practice update

Following on from staff training by the PDST during 2021/2022 we are beginning to roll out this approach. This includes:

  • regular circle time in classes to build relationships and where necessary and appropriate deal with issues arising
  • staff using specific questions to guide restorative conversations

The language used helps establish facts, promotes reflection and ultimately develops empathy. We are at the very start of this journey as building relationships and developing takes time and is an ongoing process.

Upcoming

  • November 23rd Annual Meeting of BoM and Parents and PTA AGM
  • All parents are warmly invited to attend. We are delighted to offer a talk by well-known speaker, Dr Colman Noctor, child and adolescent psychoanalytical psychotherapist.
  • Educate Together One Day Together fundraising event in November.

Frása na Seachtaine:

“Tá na cruinnithe tuismitheoirí is múinteoirí ar siúl an tseachtain seo”

“The parent teacher meetings are on this week”
