Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,

A Tribute to Vincent

After nearly a decade of dedication and huge contribution to our school, Vincent Conway, is stepping down as chairperson of the Board of Management.  As an experienced principal, Vincent joined us in 2011 with a wealth of knowledge and expertise and the ideal supportive approach, good catch Attracta!

He has supported us through significant changes, change of principal, move to a new building and development from single stream to 16/9 stream. Vincent has carried out interviews several times, chaired more Board meetings than I can count and signed at least as many policies. He has gone well beyond his duties as chairperson of the Board in supporting the work of the principal and staff and sometimes become directly involved in supporting individual children.

For 5 or 6 years he shared his expertise and passion providing music lessons on a weekly basis to 5th and 6th classes. Vincent also gave many talks on his trips to the Antartic which the children remember fondly. They also clearly remember his funky ties! He also enhanced assemblies with his accordian and keyboard playing. Above all Vincent has always been a caring, calm, consistent and capable presence, always appearing on site just when needed.

Thank you, Vincent, for your kindness and generosity of spirit. You’ve been instrumental in bringing the school to where it is today, a thriving community with excellent staff and positive relationships with parents. You will always be part of the story of GETNS.

Please join us on Zoom next Thursday as our tribute to Vincent will be incorporated within the PTA AGM and Board’s annual meeting with parents.

Creative Schools

We are very excited to have been successful in our application to the Arts Council for funding and support in developing a child led creative project. Initial meetings have begun between teacher Maeve and assigned artist and the piece of work will take place over a two year period. You’ll hear more soon. Thank you Maeve.

Calling all parents!

There’s still time to get in nominations for PTA Class reps, as we’ve extended the deadline to Friday, 20 November at midnight.  You can complete the nomination form here (https://form.jotform.com/203154666816055) and you can email [email protected] with any questions.

“A chara Vincent, go raibh maith agat agus go n’eirí on t-ádh leat” – Vincent, thank you and best of luck.
