Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,
Health & Safety Notice
For parents who may need to collect their children early for appointments in the afternoon we would request that you do so either before children come out to yard or at earliest 5 minutes after they go back into classrooms. This helps us to keep everyone safe within the school grounds and reduces gate openings when children are outside.
First yard is 10:45 to 11:00 (so collect before 10:40 or after 11:05) and second yard is 12:20 to 12:45 (so collect before 12:15 or after 12:50).
We appreciate your support with this.
Support our SNAs
Petition to prevent the government reducing SNA numbers in mainstream: https://www.change.org/p/stop-the-cull-of-special-needs-assistants-protect-ireland-s-most-vulnerable-pupils
Although we are not curently one of the schools effected, and the government is pausing the cutting of SNAs it is still timely to sign the above petition and show support for SNA's role in mainstream classrooms.
The IPPN response is here: https://mailchi.mp/df350f8f7ae6/responsetosnacuts?e=e1d4c8903d and they are recommending that the current circular (which is 12 years old) needs to be reviewed and that the care needs described are too narrow "and do not reflect the increased complexity of need that schools are trying to support or the invaluable work that SNAs do in relation to assisting regulation and responding appropriately and effectively to behaviours of concern." Worth a read.
Convention on Education
The deadline for engaging with the National Conversation on Education is this Saturday 28th February. You can complete this short survey (click here to access) or submit your ideas here before Saturday: https://www.gov.ie/en/department-of-education/publications/the-national-conversation-on-education/
Adequate support for inclusion, including SNAs, teacher burnout, over reliance on good quality volunteerism should be high on the agenda, i mo thuairim

Assembly – Value of the month is Love
We had two beautiful assemblies, the Junior one was led by Dee’s class who sang “These are a few of my favourite things”. The Senior one was led by Sinéad’s class, treating us to puppetry, poetry, ideas for showing love and they sang “Reach for the Stars”. Both assemblies were fantastic.
