Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,

I was delighted to attend the launch of Aitheantas (recognition) yesterday, a new framework for trainee teachers to support Ethical, Multi Belief and Values Education. This marks a significant milestone in an ever-evolving educational system in Ireland. It is very exciting to see this development and to be part of it. A huge amount of work has gone in over the last decades to get to this point. To read more please click here.

And More!

Both 6th classes visited Beaverstown Golf Club last Friday. Our school caretaker Mick is the club captain there and he rolled out the red carpet treatment for us. We got to see the club house and ground keepers area .We were lucky enough to get the chance to take practice shots on the greens and with the nets. It was a unique and interesting trip for us all.

Realtín and Lisa's 2nd Classes made the most of the fabulous sunshine with a wonderful “Botanic Explorers” trip to the Botanic Gardens where we became garden explorers for the day!. Working in pairs, the children took part in activities such as Pollinator Patrol, Sensory Safari and Tree Detectives, learning lots while enjoying the great outdoors.

We took part in a scavenger hunt around the gardens, searching for colourful leaves, interesting plants, and different bugs and insects. We explored leaves of different shapes and sketched them in our notebooks.

During our “Pollinator Patrol,” we spotted bees, butterflies, and other pollinators visiting flowers. We finished our adventure with a sensory safari, exploring different plants through their textures, smells, and colours.

What the children said:

Max said, “I really enjoyed looking at all the different bugs and insects.'

Ethan said, “I liked being a tree detective and looking closely at all the different trees.”

Eira said, “I loved looking at all the different parts of the flowers and smelling them.”

Alfie said, “My favourite part was looking at all the different bees collecting the pollen.”

Ragnar said, “My favourite part was seeing the monarch butterfly sitting on a tulip.”

Sadie said, “I liked seeing the pretty flowers and all the plants that were new to me.”

Louis said, “I liked going around with my partner looking at the trees.”

Charlie said, “I liked looking for all the different bugs and insects.”

Albhie said, “I liked hearing the birds chirping.”

Rachel said, “I liked looking at the pretty flowers, and my favourite one was the Fire King.”

Hugo said, “I liked being outdoors in nature.”

We are incredibly proud of Ailbhe, who danced beautifully at the CRN Irish Open Championships 2026 at the weekend and achieved a fantastic 1st place. What a wonderful accomplishment, well done, Ailbhe!
