And More!

Daniel’s JI having great fun exploring different ways to problem solve with the new maths curriculum 😊

Both 2nd classes have begun literacy power hour twice a week and are enjoying reading, writing and word work stations.

Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,

Bike Week Art Competition

Congratulations to our students who received a certificate of achievement and a goodie bag for their participation in Bike Week 2026. Have a look at their fabulous posters which were displayed on Merrion Square and have been returned today.

FTD Brothers Marathons

Today, some of our classes had the very special opportunity to head out and support Jordan and Cian, the FTD Brothers, as they passed by during their incredible challenge of running 33 marathons in 33 days to raise awareness and support families affected by dementia. The children did us all proud, cheering loudly, waving their colourful handmade posters and encouraging the brothers as they ran past. It was a really special experience for everyone involved and a lovely opportunity for the children to show the kindness, encouragement and community spirit that are such an important part of life here at Glasnevin ETNS.

It was clear that the support from the children meant a great deal to Jordan, Cian and their team, whose determination and positivity throughout this challenge are truly inspiring.

Funds raised from their challenge will support the Alzheimer Society of Ireland and the work of the FTD Brothers Foundation. If you would like to support their fundraising efforts and learn more about their journey, donations can be made here: https://gofund.me/4357c9b25

Santry Athletics

We are incredibly proud of all of the children who represented our school at the Cumann na mBunscol athletics events in Santry on Tuesday. The pupils took part in a variety of events including high jump, long jump, shot put, relays, long-distance and sprint.

The children showed fantastic sportsmanship throughout the day, cheering one another on, encouraging their teammates and supporting pupils from other schools too. Their positive attitude, kindness and team spirit were wonderful to see and they represented our school brilliantly.

A particular well done to Alex Molloy, who won gold in the high jump, and to Syriana, who won bronze in the high jump. Congratulations also to our girls’ Under 12 relay team, Ariya, Lucy, Alise and Clara, who brought home bronze medals.

Well done also to Harry Sheehan, who won bronze in the 800m, Emily, who won bronze in the long jump, and Feilim, who also won bronze in the long jump. We are very proud of all of their achievements and of the wonderful team spirit shown throughout the day.

3rd Class GAA Blitz

On Wednesday and Thursday we played our 3rd class blitz in Na Fianna against other local schools. We worked together, called each others names and showed our amazing team spirit! It was really nice to meet our friends from local schools. Most importantly we showed off our skills and passion for GAA. Well done to all the children involved. Liah

Schoolbooks Scheme

The Department of Education is now carrying out an evaluation of the scheme. Hearing directly from school staff, parents and guardians will help us understand what worked well and where improvements can be made. Your feedback will help shape how the scheme develops in the future, so it continues to support students effectively and reduces costs for families.

The Department of Education would be grateful if you could support this process by completing this parent/guardian survey:

Please note that the deadline for survey responses is Friday, 26 June.

And More!

Yesterday morning, both ALC classes set off on a big bus bound for Balbriggan on our school tour. We all had a great time in PJ's. We loved climbing, jumping, running, swinging, pedalling, driving and sliding. There were also some cool sports areas where we could play football and basketball. We all really enjoyed our day!

Everyone having a great time on ALC'a school trip!

Realtín's Second Class were delighted to welcome author and illustrator Chris Judge to our classroom. He read some of his brilliant stories, including Evil Duck, and the children loved hearing all about his books and characters.

Chris then showed us how to draw Evil Duck, and everyone had great fun creating their own wonderfully disgusting pizzas, complete with crushed-up toilet, bits of plastic, wiggly worms and plenty of imagination! A big thank you to Chris for such a fantastic visit full of stories, drawing, and creativity.

Naomi & Aoife's 4th class enjoying paired reading with emma's junior infants outside.
