Dear Parents and Guardians/A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,

Fáilte arais agus áth bhliain faoi mhaise daoibh!

School Secretary Strike

Thank you for your supportive emails to date. Your children are a credit to you with their understanding, awareness and willingness to support such activism. We’ve already received some responses from Noel Rock and Róisín Shorthall.

Everyone is welcome to make posters tonight and to join Nicky in the strike tomorrow morning. 5th and 6th class only are invited to remain outside the gate until 8:50am. The President of the INTO will be here for a photo at 9am, ideally we’ll have a few children and parents included in this to have a representative sample of the school community. If your child is in 5th of 6th class and is happy to be in a photo please give written/email/verbal consent. We hope to see some of you in the morning, however, if not, you can use any/all of the below contacts to express your support of the campaign, and dissatisfaction with the unfair, two tier system and demand a much more satisfactory response. You may complain about how this strike and the indefinite work to rule is impacting you.

Rainbows Ireland Centre

I’d just like to let you know that we are registered as a Rainbows Centre and a number of staff are currently being trained in this. Thank you to the staff who are giving their weekends for this. The programme is aimed at supporting children who are coping with bereavement or separation. Once we are ready to offer this support you will hear more about this.

Reminder:

  • As a result of the work to rule campaign secretaries will not be carrying out certain duties which will mean a reduction in the level of communication you are accustomed to e.g. Thursday Letters will not be guaranteed, enrolment queries will not be answered. Essential communication will continue.
  • There is already a number of items in the Lost Property box, please check.
  • Safety Awareness is coming up
