Dear Parents and Guardians / A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,

Dear Parents and Guardians / A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,

The National Flag for Primary Schools Initiative:

Two members of Óglaigh na hÉireann will visit our school on Monday 23rd November 2015 at 9.30am to deliver the National Flag and the 1916 Proclamation. We will have a whole school assembly, Layla from 6th class will read from the Proclamation and Marcus from Junior Infants will be presented with the flag. All parents are welcome to join us. This is a key initiative of the 2016 Centenary Programme and will see teams from Óglaigh na hÉireann. More detail is available on the website http://www.military.ie/en/info-centre/defence-forces-2016/

The Annual Meeting of the school Board of Management with the parent body last night included some very interesting dialogue, with a focus on the new school building and the future potential for further whole-school projects, such as building up a school library, development of ICT and development of garden/outdoor areas. If you have an interest in any of these areas, there is scope for greater involvement by the wider parent body. Please contact your PTA class representative. Congratulations to Aoife and Josh who were elected by the parents onto the new BOM. Congratulations to Annaba and Lisa who were elected onto the PTA, as chairperson and secretary, respectively.

On behalf of the whole school community I would like to sincerely thank the out-going members of the BOM who have made an invaluable contribution to the school over the last four years. Thank you: Pat, Eoghan, Joe, Sorcha and Paula for your huge commitment and hard work.I would also like to especially thank Isabelle who is stepping down from the PTA after many years of enormous, on-going involvement, in particular with the school garden, working with all of the children in the school. Thank you to Susan who has stepped down as teacher rep on the PTA, after a great year of participation. Finally, thank you to Laura for her contributions as joint chair of the PTA, over the last two years.

Congratulations to Niamh who was elected by the Staff as teacher representative on the BOM and well done to Katherine who was elected teacher representative on the PTA.
