Thursday Letter 12th October 2017

12th October 2017

Dear Parents and Guardians / A Thuismitheoirí agus a Chaomhnóirí,

GAA

Fantastic result for the girls’ football team! Thanks for all the support from parents, family and friends. Their next match is Thursday 19th October in Tymon Park – more details to follow.

“Really proud of all the girls today, terrific commitment and heart, they had to fight for every ball, and they never stopped believing in themselves and their team mates – brilliant effort all round and well done to coach Katherine!” (parent).

The remaining unclaimed Lost Property will be donated to charity tomorrow – thanks to Louise and co for organising the display.

New model for SEN

Please see attached which sums up the changes in approach to SEN. Under the new model priority is given to children with significant, enduring and complex needs with HSE reports who will generally have input from multi-disciplinary teams. The SEN Team review and assess the needs of all of the children at the beginning of the school year and following this some children may be withdrawn to receive support in small groups. However, all children should benefit from pro-active whole school based programmes such as; Building Bridges, Power Hour, Mata sa Rang, Spelling Sorts and Friends Programme.

Autumn Fair – please see attached.

Frása na Seachtaine:  “Las na soilse!” – Turn on the lights!

Le meas,

AUTUMN FAIR

SUNDAY 22nd OCTOBER

12PM TO 3PM

It’s just around the corner, and things are coming together for the biggest fundraiser of the school year.

This year, because of all the space in the new school, it will be bigger and better than ever. New this time will be a Kids Zone with games such as Super Soccer Shooter, Basketball Blitz, Nerf Target Zone, Pluck the Duck, Splat the Rat, Skeleton Toss and more. Also, we have expanded our range of relaxing holistic treatments and yoga. Traditional favourites include the cinema, and a spine-chilling haunted house, not to mention all the delicious food on offer.

It’s always a great day out, but we need to let people know so SPREAD THE WORD among friends, family and the local community. Posters are available from Karen’s office to advertise in your local shop/car window/local community – please take one or two if you can.

  • CAKES AND BAKES
We need lots of tasty home-baked goodies for our food room and café. Please dropall cakes, buns, sandwiches, pies, quiches on the morning of the fair to our Brewed Awakening Café in the School Hall. There will be many food stalls to choose from on the day (Burgers/Hotdogs/Crêpes/ Soup/Sandwiches/Baked Goods) so families can come for lunch! Please contact Irma McLoughlin [email protected] with any queries
  • ADVANCE BOOKINGS
We’ll be in the school yard next week taking bookings for relaxing parent and child yoga, reflexology, Indian head massage and back massage, all by qualified therapists. Places are filling up already, so book ahead to avoid disappointment. Alternatively, email [email protected]
  • PHOTOGRAPHY
Grab your granny, your friends, or favourite cuddly toy and book your photo session with our resident professional photographer Mitch. For just €20 you can get a selection of studio shots and the price includes one free print. Sixth class students – why not book a slot with your friends as a special memento for your final year. There is limited availability so book early by emailing [email protected] or book with the volunteers at the school next week.
  • RAFFLE TICKETS

Please bring back all raffle tickets SOLD OR UNSOLD as soon as possible or by Friday 20th October at the latest.  We don’t have a huge amount returned yet, so we imagine they’re sitting on kitchen counters at home. So, please do a last push and then get them back in!

As you know there’s a reward for the class that sells the most – at present that’s Aine’s Junior infants class followed by Eibhlin’s Senior Infants class.

Remember, you can buy your raffle tickets ONLINE this year – it couldn’t be easier! Every donation of €10 to the school’s PayPal account buys a book of six tickets. There are two more prizes to be won in a mini-raffle for online raffle sales before the fair. You can make your €10 donations here: http://tinyurl.com/getnsfair

IF YOU CAN’T MAKE THE DATE, PLEASE DONATE!!!

  • We know it won’t rain on the day of the fair but just in case, do you have a gazebo we could borrow – please contact [email protected]

And it’s not too late to VOLUNTEER! Could you come forward to give some of our stallholders a break to get a coffee or a bite to eat? We also need more people on security, and for Set Up on Friday 20th at 2.20pm and for Clean Up on the day of the Fair Sunday 22nd after 3pm.
